Meet one of European Young Innovator Award of the Year 2012 Judge (competition on the 26th June 14h – 16h) and speaker at the formal awards ceremony (on the 27th June 16h- 16h30), at Young Innovators UNconvention, Brussels.
On the 26th June at BoZar, the much-awaited European Young Innovator of the Year 2012 awards session will kick off at day one of the Young Innovators Awards unconvention. Six pan-European finalists, chosen through a pan-European online only competition, the InnoPitch will pitch to a panel of well-known EU and US Investors, competing for two prizes, the European Young Innovator of the Year 2012 (jury selection) and the unconventional Innovator award (audience choice).
On the 27th June, at the European Young Innovators Awards Session, we will see the launch of concrete policy responses – two key European Parliament and EYIF joint actions, the ‘European Young Innovation Champions’ MEP’s initiative, with the declaration of two regional hubs as well as the start of the implementation of the Young Innovators Mobility, which was signed into budgetary execution in December 2011. This will be followed by the exciting declaration of winners of the ‘European Young Innovator of the Year 2012 Awards’.
Carlos Eduardo Espinal, Partner at Seedcamp As Partner, Carlos co-manages Seedcamp. His investment focus is on mobile, gaming, and networking technologies. Prior to Seedcamp, Carlos was a venture capitalist at Doughty Hanson Technology Ventures, an early stage investment firm based in London where he worked with portfolio companies Flirtomatic and Mobango. Before Doughty Hanson, Carlos was an engineer for the Advanced Communications Technologies group of The New York Stock Exchange (SIAC) where he focused on the next generation of wireless and mobile trading platforms for the exchange. Prior to SIAC, he was a network security consultant for the professional services division of Baltimore Technologies where he worked with global clients in the telecommunication and data services sectors. Carlos holds an MBA from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College and a B.S. from Carnegie Mellon University. Carlos was a 2005 recipient of the Paul F. Greene Telecommunications Research Award. In his spare time, Carlos enjoys road cycling, blogging, and is on the steering committee of the European Venture Capital Network.
