It has been a fantastic week for EYIF and the startups that joined us as we hosted more than 600 visitors across 5 days. EYIF, as a partner of the CeBIT Conference, has been thrilled with the success of the event which hosted figures such as Angela Merkel, chinese top entrepreneur Jack Ma and leading economic thinker Jeremy Rifkin. We look forward to supporting and cooperating with them in the future, as well as around 150 startups and VCs that we met for the first time. Most importantly, we are looking forward to partnering another successful CeBIT conference in 2016.
Our stand officially opened on Monday morning with the EU Funding Coffee, hosting many startups looking to scale their business across Europe. This event was hosted every day and proved incredibly popular with those involved in the startup ecosystem. We are looking to continue our work with the startups we met at this event and support them in the upcoming months.
Monday morning also saw EYIF take to the #Scale11 Stage, as Kumardev Chatterjee, EYIF Founder and President, delivered his keynote speech to a room filled to the brim with influential figures. Kumardev certainly provided some food for thought as he elaborated on how Europe is supporting the startup community in pursuit of economic growth. This was followed by a productive meeting with Günther Oettinger, Commissioner for the Digital Economy and Society. Our team met with him to discuss our efforts in relation to #DisruptEuropeYear and our views on the EU Digital Agenda, as well as the upcoming UnConvention.
The opening day also saw the opening of the EYIF Startup Showcase where entrepreneurs have been presenting their business models to CeBIT attendees. During the week, we have hosted a total of 12 startups at the EYIF stand, presenting products from BMX sensors and applications to data analytics tools. Each startup we hosted performed fantastically well and certainly impressed visitors with their innovations. We are looking forward to continue working with these startups throughout 2015 and beyond as they look to scale and grow their concepts. Find out more details about the startups that were featured at the EYIF stand on our webpage.
Experts from EYIF have also been holding workshops throughout the week focused on the access SME Instrument and EU funding more generally. We hosted 15 startups in two hugely successful sessions, on Tuesday and Thursday. Led by Kumardev Chatterjee, the objective was to equip these early-stage startups with all the information, tools and hands-on information to write a winning proposal and gain pivotal finance. The EU Funding Workshop was accompanied by a live mentoring session. During this hour-long event, 10 startups had the opportunity to pitch their ideas to Kumardev and the EYIF team. After a one minute pitch, entrepreneurs received crucial feedback on the potency and delivery of their ideas. The session were not only useful for entrepreneurs but also for EYIF. We always learn a great deal from these sessions and consistently enjoy discussing new innovative business models with the startup community.
Throughout the week, we have been working on the development of our partnerships network. We enjoyed meeting our existing, as well as new potential strategic partners, including some significant global players. The work now begins to link these companies with the European startup ecosystem to significantly increase the connectivity between the startup community and the corporate community in Europe.
