6 December 2012 | 18h00 – 20h00 | Science14 Atrium
Following our recent Innovation Roundtable at the European Parliament, the European Young Innovators Forum continues its work to promoteinnovation ecosystems in Europe. In partnership with the United States Mission to the European Union, we are pleased and honoured to invite a small group of our friends and supporters to an exceptional InnoCoffee with Victor W. Hwang.
Victor W. Hwang is co-founder and Managing Director of T2 Venture Capital, a Silicon Valley venture firm that builds startup companies and the ecosystems that grow them. T2VC mentors and invests in innovative companies with breakthrough technologies. But unlike any other firm of its kind, T2VC also leverages the practical know-how of company-building to design innovation ecosystems around the world. This expertise includes capital formation, innovation policy, and entrepreneurial development for partners such as the World Bank, USAID, and numerous governments and corporations.
Victor is Executive Director of the Global Innovation Summit, a conference on building innovation ecosystems that attract delegates from nearly 50 countries. Victor is past President of Larta Institute, a leading organisation commercialising technology from key government agencies, such as the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health.
Victor is a Kauffman Fellow, a network of leaders in the venture capital industry. He advises the World Bank on innovation and venture capital formation in emerging markets. He has mentored hundreds of startup companies over the years.
Victor is the primary author of the book The Rainforest: The Secret to Building the Next Silicon Valley (Regenwald, 2012), which explains how society can foster innovative economies. The book has been praised as “an insightful, forward-thinking assessment of what makes Silicon Valley tick” (Kirkus Reviews) and “a detailed analysis of the power of environment on startup success” (Forbes). Victor is also a contributing columnist to Forbes magazine, where he authors the blog Riffs from the Rainforest.
EYIF’s InnoCoffee is a “meet the expert” event by invitation only, held in an intimate setting for up to 50 participants interacting with an eminent speaker on innovation and entrepreneurship-related topics. The events last about 2 hours, including one hour of discussion and Q&A and are followed by a networking session.
